Loyalty Doubling and the Bargain-Bin Tax: How Oath of Teferi Turned a Ninety-Cent Enchantment into a Listing Price Inside Tam's Five-Color Superfriends

If, before *Reality Fracture* put five-color superfriends back into the command zone, that five-mana legendary enchantment from Dominaria sat like a loyalty tax in the bargain bin, and if most people who heard *Oath of Teferi* only remembered that it lets each planeswalker activate loyalty once more per turn and sometimes blinks a permanent home, then the secondary market of October 2026 rewrote the same piece of cardboard into another kind of listing. Wargamer (updated 2026-10-07), reading MTGGoldfish, moved the card from about $0.90 at the start of the month to about $8, roughly +790%. Card Atlas (2026-10-10) moved mid-September about $0.91 to about $7.22 on October 9, and wrote that roughly 80% of *Tam, the Possibility* lists run it. The image that runs through this piece is that bargain-bin loyalty-doubling tax. The tax line was already printed. What lifted it into a listing price was list density stacked on old print supply.

I cross-checked Wargamer's tracker, Card Atlas's store-side view, MTGGoldfish's weekly updates for October 4 and October 11, and Scryfall print prices. Boards differ by a dollar or two; the direction matches. This piece only cites public readings I verified.

I. From Dominaria Bargain Bin to Reality Fracture List Density

Industry default logic is clean, and therefore lazy.

A 2018 Dominaria rare legendary enchantment almost always gets the same story. Watch the five-mana tax. Watch the superfriends sideboard. Watch useful-but-replaceable. The card face (Scryfall Dominaria #200) looks like that part. Cost {3}{W}{U}. When it enters, exile another target permanent you control; return it to the battlefield under its owner's control at the beginning of the next end step. You may activate the loyalty abilities of planeswalkers you control twice each turn rather than only once. In a list with only two or three walkers, that is often just one extra press. Default logic therefore almost writes itself. Old rare, narrow identity, not a new-set face. Price should sit in the bargain bin.

*Tam, the Possibility* breaks that default. The Scryfall page (Reality Fracture main-set rare) is blunt. A five-color legendary creature puts planeswalker cost reduction into the rhythm around the command zone. Card Atlas's October 10 recap put Tam near about 5,200 EDHREC lists, with *The Ur-Sphinx* near about 4,700 in the same wave. Once lists hit that scale, shared parts rise with them. Wargamer called Oath a shoe-in for both main tables. It is nearly automatic for Tam's five-color generic superfriends. It also feeds the *Jace, Multiverse Architect* precon commander, and *Commodore Guff*, who already loved stacking walkers.

The timeline is harder than slogans. Card Atlas split eight older cards into two waves. Sphinxes and Guff mostly doubled in preview week. Oath, *Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God*, and *Onakke Oathkeeper* doubled on prerelease and release days (about October 1–2). Oath climbed from mid-September about $0.91 to about $7.22 on October 9, in about 80% of Tam lists. The author added a line easy to miss. Consecrated Sphinx and Doubling Season barely moved the same season, because they were already expensive and heavily reprinted. Every big multiple in the table started under about $5. Oath was still under a dollar in mid-September, so it moved.

II. Two Abilities, Doubled Loyalty and the Overlooked Blink

The card has two lines. The market often reads only the second.

The second line drives the listing. Each planeswalker you control may activate loyalty abilities twice each turn. The rules note is clear. You may press the same ability twice, or two different ones in the same turn. With twenty walkers on the table, the five-mana tax becomes a full-table double. Wargamer wrote that as near-common sense. In a list with only a couple of walkers, it is not strong. In a dedicated superfriends EDH list, it rewrites the game's pace.

The often-overlooked first blink is what writes the *Jace, Multiverse Architect* precon onto the same tax line. When Oath enters, it exiles another permanent you control and returns it at the next end step. Wargamer spelled out that Multiverse Architect lists are stuffed with six- and seven-mana ETB beaters. Doubled loyalty lets Jace climb faster, fire the -3 the same turn he reaches four, or even press a polymorph-style ability twice if loyalty is high enough. The blink retriggers those ETBs. Both abilities sit on one five-mana enchantment, so the precon and five-color generic superfriends share one supply line.

Scryfall prices at capture time put print layers into the ledger too. Dominaria #200 nonfoil about $8.25, foil about $15.03. Commander Masters reprint nonfoil about $15.49. Card Atlas already had same-text, different-price on October 9. Dominaria about $7.22, Commander Masters about $13.11. On the store side, Card Kingdom then asked about $7.49 for Dominaria and paid about $4.20 cash (about 58% of market); asked about $9.99 for Commander Masters and paid about $6.00. Players sleeving lists grab the cheapest working print first. Collector premium walks another curve. Listings follow list density. Print depth decides how many prices can sit on one Oracle text.

III. Same-Wave Tax, Chain Veil, Vronos, and Aminatou as Contrast

If you only watch Oath, the story narrows to one Dominaria enchantment getting expensive again. Pull the camera to the same-wave superfriends tax on *The Chain Veil*, *Vronos, Masked Inquisitor*, and *Aminatou, the Fateshifter* (named in the same Goldfish week), and you see the secondary market's parallel grammar. One card can be drained by roughly 80% list density. Another can spike steeper on the same Tam curve because walker-part supply was already thin. Keep the two ledgers apart. Do not merge them into one sentence that superfriends are hot.

MTGGoldfish's October 4 weekly update (page dated October 5) wrote the wave as finance. The week's biggest gainer was *Onakke Oathkeeper*, nearly +800% to about $19. Oath about +208% to about $3. *Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God* about +183% to about $15. *The Chain Veil* doubled to about $10. One week later, the October 11 weekly update (page dated October 12) kept the same curve. Oath another about +100% to about $8. Chain Veil another about +100% to about $20. Vronos from about $4 to about $25. Aminatou about +239% to about $29. The author pinned the cause on Tam. The season's most popular new legend pushed superfriends into the hot archetype, and old parts spiked with demand.

Oath stays this piece's spine. The contrasts only write the multiplier clearly. Chain Veil is another "press loyalty more" artifact with thinner supply; the same weeks can push it near twenty. Vronos is a Commander Masters planeswalker, about four dollars before Reality Fracture and about twenty-five after. Aminatou already had a home in blink and fate lists; the same week wrote it near twenty-nine. An earlier piece here took Aminatou as the main subject. Here we only borrow the same-week percentages Goldfish already locked, to show Oath is not a lone peak. It is the cheapest-start, highest-inclusion row on the same list-density tax sheet. In Card Atlas's table, Oath sits in about 80% of Tam lists, above Dragon-God about 66%, Onakke about 45%, and Guff foil about 67%. Start under a dollar, include in eight of ten lists, double on release week. Those three stack before a bargain-bin enchantment becomes a listing.

IV. Return Flow, List Density Times Old Print Supply

What this move rewrote is Oath of Teferi's place on the timeline.

Before spoilers, it could be written as a bargain-bin loyalty tax. After Tam put five-color superfriends cost reduction back near the command zone, about eight in ten lists checked it automatically. The Jace Multiverse Architect precon eats doubled loyalty and blink. Commodore Guff was already running it. MTGGoldfish first wrote about +208% to about three dollars in the October 4 week, then about +100% to about eight in the October 11 week. Wargamer moved early-month about ninety cents to about eight dollars, about +790%. Card Atlas moved mid-September about $0.91 to about $7.22 on October 9, and placed it with Dragon-God and Onakke in the release wave, while Sphinxes mostly moved in preview week. At capture time Scryfall had Dominaria nonfoil about $8.25 and Commander Masters about $15.49. Numbers will keep wobbling. Print layers and list density will not leave with the poster.

The multiplier the secondary market has been writing on listings these days is list density times old print supply. Single-card myth only grabs eyes. Under the eyes sit about 80% Tam inclusion, two abilities sharing one card, Dominaria and Commander Masters as two prices, and Chain Veil, Vronos, Aminatou as same-wave contrast. Tear the poster off. The ledger stays.

Readers who want one thread can open three pages together. Scryfall pages for Oath of Teferi (Dominaria #200 and Commander Masters), *Tam, the Possibility*, and *Jace, Multiverse Architect*, for Oracle and prints. Wargamer's 2026-10-07 spike piece and Card Atlas's 2026-10-10 old-card recap, for 0.90 to 8, 0.91 to 7.22, and about 80% inclusion. MTGGoldfish weekly updates for October 4 and October 11, for the sentences already locked on Oath, Chain Veil, Vronos, and Aminatou. Numbers will keep moving. The bargain-bin tax line has already been re-priced by list density.
